A pregnant bus driver in Wisconsin this week safely evacuated 37 students on their way to school before the vehicle burst into flames.
“I just said to the kids, ‘Let’s get out,'” Imunek Williams told WISN-TV. “I evacuated the bus, got everyone off and had them lined up against a gate. And as soon as we got off the bus, I turned around and the bus was just standing – in flames.”
Williams had been driving the students — who ranged in age from preschoolers to high school students — on the normal route for two hours when she said she started to smell something burning.
At first she said she thought it was a different car “but as I started driving more the smell and the smoke started to get thicker.”

Firefighters extinguished the fire on the bus, which was on its way to the Milwaukee Academy of Science.
Williams told TMJ4-TV that she first tried calling on the radio.

“I could barely get what I was trying to say because of the smoke hitting my face in my eyes, so I was just about okay, forget the radio. I just got the kids off the bus,” she told the station . “I think that’s when it was like my mommy instincts kicked in real quick and I was like, okay, come on mommy, let’s do it, let’s get off the bus,” Williams said.
No injuries were reported. Williams was taken to the hospital to have her health and her unborn babies evaluated, and those born suffered no injuries related to the smoke inhalation, TMJ reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown. (FOX 6)
She said the children were surprised to see her pick them up the next morning after the incident.
“They weren’t really expecting me,” said Williams. “They were like, ‘Oh, you’re back? Aren’t you burned?’ I said, ‘No, I’m still here.'”

The cause of the fire is not yet known, FOX 6 reports.
