Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the People’s Alliance is “far ahead” in Sunday’s parliamentary and presidential elections, but final results have yet to be announced.
Addressing the nation from the balcony of his AK Party, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “Our country has completed another democracy festival with the 14 May elections. Although the final results are not yet clear, we are ahead.” Its headquarters is in the capital Ankara.
His words came after millions of voters went to the polls on Sunday to elect the country’s next president and members of its 600-seat parliament.
Underlining that he expects the difference in the alliance to increase when the final results are announced, Erdoğan said that he has approximately 2.6 million more votes than his closest rival, CHP leader and 6-Party joint candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. party opposition Nation Alliance.
Underlining the high turnout in the elections, Erdoğan said that this figure is “one of the highest in our history”.

The President emphasized that he respects the will of the people and expects “the same democratic maturity” from everyone.
“Our country has a functioning that sets an example to the world in terms of both the exercise of political rights and freedoms and the reliability of the electoral system,” Erdogan said.

“If the decision taken by our nation shows that the presidential election is over, there is no problem. If our nation chose to go to the second round, it can make its choice.
“We believe that we will finish this round with over 50 percent of the vote,” Erdogan said.
Emphasizing that the votes cast at home and abroad continue to be counted, Erdoğan urged his supporters to be “on alert” until the end of the vote.
In the presidential vote, voters chose between Erdoğan, Kılıçdaroğlu and Sinan Ogan from the ATA (Ancestors) Alliance. Another presidential candidate, Muharrem İnce, withdrew from the race on Thursday.
