We have all witnessed how technology and innovation in an increasingly digital world have rapidly transformed the business landscape in Guatemala. Entrepreneurs are taking advantage of new technological tools and solutions to develop disruptive business models and generate a significant impact on the country’s economy.
The adoption of technology has broken down geographic limitations and provided Guatemalan entrepreneurs with unprecedented opportunities for business growth and expansion. This reduces the impact of traditional barriers, and facilitates access to new markets, which promotes the creation of innovative companies in various sectors.
For example, e-commerce has experienced rapid growth in Guatemala that allows entrepreneurs to sell products and services online efficiently, in addition to expanding their range of impact. Digital platforms and mobile applications are also driving the development of new services such as food delivery, ride sharing and online education that allows for much-needed refresher and new skills development with experienced mentors.
Technology and innovation are stimulating the creation of entrepreneurial ecosystems in Guatemala. Startup coworking spaces, incubators, and accelerators are being established that provide entrepreneurs with access to resources, funding, and mentoring. These environments encourage collaboration and the exchange of ideas, further driving innovation and business growth.
In the year 2022, the “Entre jaguares” program appears in the entrepreneurial environment, where we participate as Tigo Business because we know that technology is a key enabler for the development of entrepreneurship, and because we are convinced that promoting this type of initiative favors the integration of an ecosystem for entrepreneurs in the country.
In addition, I had the opportunity to participate as a judge on the program and analyze the business ideas that Guatemalans presented to a massive audience and also to established businessmen, in the style of the first “Shark Tank” in Guatemala.
The program was a wonderful and successful production, with the application of 300 participants, 6 chosen and only 1 winner of Q1 million in advertising to grow their business. In this way, it was possible to raise awareness about how important entrepreneurship is in the country’s economy, and a relevant platform was opened for entrepreneurs to present their business ideas, receiving valuable exposure and feedback.
This year, the second edition of the “Among Jaguars” program will once again be that unique window and platform for entrepreneurship in Guatemala. I invite you to postulate your business idea.
