OTTAWA –

Workers from Canada’s largest federal civil service union stand on the picket lines for the 10th day as negotiations continue.

Both sides are under pressure to negotiate a deal, although there is no legislation to return to work.

According to an update from Treasury Board Chair Mona Fortier earlier this week, wages and remote work are among the hottest points in the labor dispute.

The federal government is offering a nine percent wage increase over three years, retroactive to 2021.

Meanwhile, the union says it adjusted its initial demand for a 13.5 percent increase over the same period, but is not disclosing the new number.

As the strike continues, Canadians face a wide variety of federal service disruptions, ranging from immigration services to passport applications.
