The Republican opponent of Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff in his bid for the California State Senate denounced the congressman’s claim that being censured by Congress is a “sign of honor.”
“Every time Schiff opens his mouth, he’s lying,” attorney and Republican senate nominee Eric Early told Fox News Digital Thursday. “At this point he’s like a cornered animal that just swings around and says one ridiculous thing after another.”
After becoming only the 25th congressman in U.S. history to be censured, Schiff told Fox News he considers it a “sign of honor because it says I’m effective.”
“They’re going after people they think are effective. I’ve exposed the former president’s corruption,” Schiff said. “I led the former president’s first impeachment trial to the first bipartisan vote to remove a president and American history.”

Censorship is the second most severe form of discipline a representative in Congress can face, surpassed only by expulsion.

The disapproval vote against Schiff, which eventually passed by a party line of 213-209 with 6 Republicans present, was launched by Florida Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna. The censorship bill said Schiff’s peddling of the debunked collusion between Russia and former President Trump was inappropriate for a member.

With access to sensitive information unavailable to most members of Congress and certainly inaccessible to the American people, Schiff abused his privilege by claiming to know the truth while keeping Americans in the dark about his web of lies… lies so serious they changed the course of the country forever,” she said.

“The damage he has done is incalculable,” said Early. “For years he went on TV and in the press to lie to Americans pretty much every day, and what made it so much worse was that he was the head of the House Intelligence Committee, so he led all Americans to believe that he had seen classified information …that backed up all his lies about Russian conspiracy during the Trump campaign.”
