A sizzling air balloon in Albuquereque, New Mexico, plummeted to the bottom after it struck a radio tower throughout a preferred pageant, briefly catching hearth.

Kevin Carhart, a spokesperson for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Workplace, mentioned that the balloon was carrying three individuals throughout its descension round 8:45 a.m. native time Friday.

The incident occurred on the 52nd annual Albuquerque Worldwide Balloon Fiesta, a week-long occasion that fills the sky with greater than 500 colourful balloons.

Curt Fargo captured the balloon on video hitting the radio tower, inflicting the construction to instantly crumble. 

The tower transmits alerts to the native radio station, KKOB-AM.

Pictures posted by the station confirmed the mangled radio tower after the crash.

Police mentioned that nobody was injured throughout the incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to Fox Information Digital that they’re investigating the incident.

It wasn’t the primary time the radio tower has been concerned in a sizzling air balloon crash. In 2004, the KKOB tower was struck by a Smokey Bear Balloon.

That incident resulted within the balloon getting hung up on the tower, placing the lives of the pilot and the 2 younger boys onboard in jeopardy.

The fiesta concluded Sunday, however not earlier than a balloon briefly caught hearth after it hit energy strains on Saturday earlier than touchdown in northwest Albuquerque, the AP reported. There have been no accidents.
