On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Spač Revolt, a memorial concert called “Sounds of memory” is held on Tuesday evening at the Cultural Center of the Orthodox Cathedral.

This concert will remember the artists and poets condemned in Spaç and the thousands of victims of the communist dictatorship. With the participation of Ema Andrea, Vikena Kamenica, Ylber Gjini, Tomi Kondakçi, Kristina Laco, Fatos Bardulla, Dorina Laro and Endri Sina.

Tomi Kondakçi, singer and former prisoner in Spaç, tells us how he cut his cheekbones so he wouldn’t play the guitar and sing about the dictator.

In a tense environment due to hard work, it only took one spark to start the revolt of political prisoners on May 21, 1973, in Spaç. Because of it, on May 24 of that year, it was decided to execute Skënder Daja, Dervish Bejko, Hajri Pashaj, and Pal Zefi by firing squad. Their remains have not yet been found. While dozens of other prisoners were re-sentenced to prison.
