An Austin, Texas man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and exposing a child was sentenced to 10 years probation on Tuesday after 16 months of negotiations between the defendant’s attorney and a George Soros-backed prosecutor who is accused of being tough on the police and soft on crime, according to reports.
Antonio Cordero-Rios was convicted of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily harm and injury to a child.

During his sentencing on Tuesday FOX 7 in Austin reportedly, Cordero-Rios victims filled the courtroom, some waiting nearly two years to see justice served.

One of those victims was Lynn Isaak, who was attacked on June 30, 2021 by someone wearing a mask.
Isaak’s Apple Watch was able to keep track of how long she struggled to fend off the perpetrator, but was eventually told by the Austin Police Department that it would be difficult to find out who attacked her.

The department’s lack of help came the year after the Austin City Council voted to defund the police force by about a third of its budget, leaving the department in a critical personnel crisis. The city council was later forced by state law to pay back the roughly $150 million it cut from the APD budget, but an exodus of officers was already underway by then. The City Council, led by then-Mayor Steve Adler and Councilman Greg Casar, also canceled police cadet classes, reducing the number of officers to replace those who left.

Without the help of the police, FOX 7 reported, Isaak turned to Nextdoor, a hyperlocal social networking site for neighborhoods.
While using the site, Isaak discovered that other women had encountered the suspect, and the victims were able to start connecting dots such as the make, model and license plate of the vehicle. They also created a map showing the locations of each incident, which led to Cordero-Rios’ arrest.

Isaak was the only victim on Tuesday to say anything to newly convicted Cordero-Rios.

“Your punishment is too lenient. You got off easy with what you did. I have not heard any remorse from you. I have not heard any apologies,” she said. “You’re a monster and I don’t forgive you for what you did to me.”
In addition to 10 years of probation, District Judge Karen Sage told Cordero-Rios to stay away from all victims and children and register as a sex offender.
Cordero-Rios’ attorney, Jorge Vela, told FOX 7 that his client regretted what he did.
“My client acknowledges his actions by pleading guilty,” Vela told the news station. “He takes responsibility.”

As for the light sentence of probation over jail time, Vela thanked the Travis County District Attorney’s office.

Vela said the deal was reached with the district attorney’s office after 16 months of negotiations and taking into account Cordero-Rios’ lack of criminal history prior to the multiple attacks, and the facts of the case.
Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza has been criticized in the past for being tough on police and soft on crime. Last year, he even charged a suspect with a felony in connection with a fatal DUI accident, leading to a 10-day prison sentence. In February 2022, Garza obtained charges against more than 20 APD police officers for actions during the 2020 violent riots.
According to data collected by the Capital Research CenterGarza is one of dozens of prosecutors across the country who received substantial backing from leftist billionaire George Soros, through direct contributions and supportive advertising from activist groups such as the Texas Justice and Public Safety PAC.

Although Cordero-Rios received 10 years probation and no time in prison, Judge Sage was stern when she ruled.
“I give you my word,” FOX 7 reported to the judge. “It’s on my watch now. There will be no more survivors. This is it. It ends here.’
