With a record call, the FERTILITY 2023 Symposium was held this week in Rosario, the traditional appointment of crop nutrition and fertilization technology.

Fertilize Civil Association, an entity whose objective is to promote the responsible management of crop fertilization, organized the 16th edition of its traditional “FERTILITY Symposium”, under the motto “To the great Argentine soil, Cheers!”. The event, which took place on May 10 and 11 at the Rosario Metropolitan Convention Center, was attended by 1,300 people, plus 1,000 visitors to the virtual transmission.

At the end of the Symposium, the academic director of the meeting, Dr. Fernando García, listed the messages that remained after the two days of lectures:

1. Meeting future food demand requires the sustainable intensification of crop production systems. “It is an issue that we are going to have to pursue,” Garcia said.

2. Correct nutrition plays a fundamental role in closing performance gaps. “It is not the only reason, but it has a fundamental role,” he said.

3. Let’s use the scientific-technical bases of responsible nutrition. “They’re available”.

4. Is potassium the 5th deficient nutrient? “Attention, it already appears as a problem in areas such as Entre Ríos and it is already installed in Uruguay,” said García.

5. We have a stack of data. Let’s move forward in analysis and applications.

6. Biologicals plus foliar plus specialties improve efficiencies and complement crop nutrition. “Let’s cheer up. You have to use all these new developments and see modes of action and results to complement new modes of nutrition and management.”

7. Balanced nutrition allows for better livestock systems and better farmers. “We still have a long way to go in the production of grass and for that to be transformed into greater livestock production, but also to improve the production of the crops that follow them in the rotation.”

8. In the 2023-24 campaign and always, success will depend on a good diagnosis. It was the great premise of the Symposium: diagnosis is the key to success.

9. Local information is also key to the success of a nutrition program. “This is so because the answers will vary depending on the area.”

10. What is the Symposium?: it is information and motivation for innovation. “Information because there was a lot and motivation to innovate with new ideas,” García concluded.

“We are very happy to have carried out a new edition of the FERTILITY 2023 Symposium, with a great call from the public and the press, and the participation of undisputed specialists in the field of crop nutrition from the region. We thought of this space to be able to contribute to achieving the best possible agriculture, which enhances production, generates quality food and cares for the environment”, said Ma. Fernanda Gonzalez Sanjuan, executive manager of Fertilizar AC.

The Symposium’s main objective was to present and discuss updated knowledge and information on nutrient management for productive, environmental and social sustainable agriculture. During two days, 6 international speakers and more than 20 references from our country discussed relevant aspects regarding soil and crop management and the application of the 4 Requirements for responsible use of nutrients: application of the correct source in dose, form and moment correct.

“At Fertilizar AC we will continue promoting various initiatives aimed at promoting correct crop nutrition and highlighting the key role that fertilization technology plays in achieving efficient management and profitable and sustainable production at the same time. Always having the conservation of the soil resource as the central axis of all our work. Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Symposium”, added Roberto Rotondaro, president of the entity.
