Before I started taking daily nutritional supplements, I was thoroughly confused about how they worked and the potential benefits to my health. All I knew was that I was suffering from declining health and wanted to be more proactive and practice prevention. Although I had been taking and taking several vitamins for years and thought of myself as having a fairly healthy diet and lifestyle, I still lacked health.

All scientific explanations for the health benefits of USANA Health Suit as for oxidation, antioxidants, minerals, chelated minerals didn’t settle at the time. My eyes would glaze over at the thought of actually reading a book like this. It was only after taking the supplements and experiencing their effects that I sought out this book to get a deep understanding of the benefits I’ve been achieving for my health.

What a wonderful surprise to receive this excellent and readable book by Dr. Beach reading. One thing I appreciated is the humility and candor of Dr. Beach. His dedication to medicine and the health of his patients was striking.

Unfortunately, most doctors do not recommend nutritional supplements because they know little about nutrition. Only about six percent of physicians have had any training in nutrition. Instead, they are thoroughly trained in pharmacology to prescribe drugs to address the symptoms of illness once a patient has fallen ill.

Dr. Strand has studied the medical literature in detail regarding the evidence for supplementation, and the book is well documented. He thoroughly examines why nutritional supplements are beneficial and necessary for health and disease prevention. Dr. Strand presents compelling arguments for using supplements, including patient case studies. He explains in detail how oxidation causes disease, why the RDA of dietary guidelines is inadequate, and why it is impossible to get enough nutrition for health even if one is careful about eating a healthy diet, which most Americans fail to do .

While this is not current research, it is still relevant and informative. In any case, the evidence is growing on the value of supplementation for health. I definitely recommend it as a very valuable book.
