The Court of Korça has been designated as competent for considering the case of “the strongman of Chola”, Myrteza Çaushi.
The decision was made today, where the announcement states that the dispute of subject competence between the Korçë Judicial District Court and the Mat Judicial District Court was resolved for the consideration of the case with the object of “reduction of sentence”, determining the Korçë Judicial District Court , as the competent court for examining the case.”
Myrteza Çaushi is sentenced to life imprisonment. He was the leader of one of the gangs in the city of Vlora, during the riots of 1997.
In this year, the aforementioned was incarcerated in the rehabilitation home with high quality insurance, where he managed to escape during a riot that broke out in the prison.
Çaushi was sentenced by Greek justice to 101 years in prison for murder, but it seems that escaping from Greek prisons did not save him, as today he is serving a life sentence in Burrel prison, where he and his gang are accused of monstrous crimes .
He has requested several times to be released on bail as well as to change the type of security. Çaushi is serving his sentence in high security in IEVP, Drenovë.
