Egypt’s Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority, Mohamed Maait, discussed a report on the results of the visit of a delegation from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) to the Department of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance in Ismailia, the Ismailia Medical Complex and the Family Medicine Center in al-Shuhada.
Maait ordered on Saturday to continuously work with international development partners to develop Egypt’s model of comprehensive healthcare coverage, to ensure the sustainability of the efficiency of health management, financing and services provided to citizens.
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the international support for Egypt’s efforts to reform health insurance by supporting the comprehensive health insurance system in line with the latest international standards.
These include the role of the AFD, the World BankAnd The Japanese JICAshowing positive cooperation in advancing efforts to implement comprehensive health insurance, he said.
“We seek to enhance the role of the private medical sector as an important partner in providing services and managing the comprehensive health insurance system, through the promising and attractive competitive opportunities that this advanced system will provide for private medical institutions with the public institutions. the minister explained.
Maait added: “The state does not have a monopoly on the provision of healthcare, but rather the Egyptian experience is based on the right of the citizen and his family to choose a place where he can receive treatment and comprehensive and integrated healthcare , whether in public. or in the private sector, or in other accredited healthcare institutions, with the aim of increasing citizen satisfaction.”
Assistant Minister of Finance and Executive Director of Comprehensive Health Insurance, Mai Farid, explained that the visit of the French delegation was coordinated to inform them of developments in the implementation of the first phase of the system.
