A three-metre-tall gorilla was reportedly stolen from a garden center in Scotland before being spotted being transported by lorry on a motorway.
The fiberglass statue of the gorilla “Gary” was stolen from the Reynard Garden Center in Carluke Township on March 20.
The beautifully crafted animal was a major attraction for visitors who expressed shock at the loss, writes the British Metro network.
Security camera footage showed Gary being taken by a group of thieves who stripped him and took him away.
After the hostage-taking, Gary was taken to the M40 motorway in the direction of Warwick, writes the local network Daily Record.
The statue was seen on the body of a lorry traveling north to Glasgow.
Andrew Scott, the owner of the gardens said Daily Record: “The images are not very clear, but it seems that a white van was used to steal it, from which several people get out. They had unscrewed it and carefully placed it in the truck, it seems it was planned. We ask the authorities to continue to search for Gary, hoping for his safe return to his family,” added Scott.
Meanwhile, Gary’s adoring fans said they were hopeful they would be reunited with him soon.
Local police have urged anyone with information to contact officials.
