Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that from April 1, the minimum wage in Greece will increase to 780 euros.

Mitsotakis said this is a 9.4% increase, the third in a row during his administration. He said raising the minimum wage doesn’t solve the problem, but it’s a significant relief.

“I have no illusions, I know that in our country salaries are still low and they are more suppressed by inflation. I hear it all the time, especially from young men and women who are having a hard time. This new increase obviously does not solve the problem, but it is a considerable relief and, above all, it shows our intention to increase salaries in both the public and private sectors”, Mitsotakis said at the government meeting.

“At the same time, I want to emphasize that the Greek economy is in a dynamic development, unemployment is constantly decreasing, taxes are still decreasing. Therefore, now is the time to support workers with a bold increase in the basic salary” – concluded the Prime Minister in his announcement about the increase in the minimum wage, which will come into effect on April 1.
