The officer identified himself and, seeing the 22-year-old assailant grab his gun, fired. He is free for having acted in legitimate defense.

A police officer from the Morón Departmental Support Group (GAD) killed a motorcycle that tried to rob him in the Merlo district of Buenos Aires on Wednesday night. The offender had an arrest warrant for the crime of robbery aggravated by the use of a firearm.

The violent episode occurred around 9:00 p.m. this Wednesday on Mario Bravo Street, between Rawson and Victoriano Loza. It was there that the policeman, who was in civilian clothes and was riding his red Honda Wave motorcycle, was intercepted by a motorcycle that was on board his black Honda Falcon and who pointed a gun at him to make him stop.

Faced with the threat, the victim stopped to hand over his cell phone and the helmet he was wearing. Then, he took out his 9mm glock service weapon and identified himself as a police officer.

Far from giving himself up, the assailant put a hand to his waist to grab his pistol. Noticing that movement, the policeman shot him. He immediately called 911 and called for an ambulance. However, the offender died before medical assistance arrived.

The assailant was identified as Lucas José Ignacio Rissetti, 22 years old. He had with him the cell phone that he had just stolen from the police officer and two other phones that are suspected to have been stolen as well. He was also carrying a 22 caliber revolver.

Judicial sources confirmed that the offender had an arrest warrant since November 3, 2022 for the crime of robbery aggravated by the use of a firearm, requested by Guarantee Court No. 5 of Morón.

In addition, the motorcycle he was riding on also had a kidnapping order since 2019, when it was reported stolen in the town of Villa Tesei, in Hurlingham.

Prosecutor Hugo Ravizzini, of the Prosecutor’s Office No. 7 of the Morón Judicial Department, ordered that the corresponding expertise at the crime scene be carried out by the National Gendarmerie and removed the Buenos Aires Police from the investigation, as indicated in the protocol when one of those involved belongs to that force.

For his part, the agent was not detained since it was considered that he acted in legitimate defense.
