Vinicius Junior will head a special FIFA anti-racism committee made up of players who will propose tougher penalties for discriminatory behavior in football.

Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, revealed this to Reuters on Thursday.

“There will be no more football with racism. Matches must be stopped immediately when this occurs. Enough!” said football’s top boss after meeting Vinicius and the Brazil team, who play Guinea in Barcelona on Saturday, as part of an anti-racism campaign led by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

The Real Madrid player received racist insults in the match he played against Valencia at the Mestalla stadium.

“I have asked Vinicius to lead this group of players who will introduce stricter sanctions against racism, which will then be enforced by all football authorities in the world. We need to listen to the players and what they need to work in a safer environment. We have taken this work very seriously,” said Infantino.
