Law enforcement in Houston, Texas, arrested a woman on Tuesday after she breached the security fence around Bush Intercontinental Airport, reached the airport and caused the flight facility, including a runway, to be briefly shut down.

Ivori Howard, 22, is accused of gaining access to the airport from one of the runways at about 8:30pm Tuesday after going through part of the perimeter fence around the major airport.

As a result of Howard’s encroachment, airport authorities closed the runway so that Houston police and airport operations staff could respond and detain her for trespassing.

FOX 26 in Houston reported that airport officials determined that the offender was able to pass under part of the fence to get to the airport.

Officials added that the portion of the fence that Howard breached complied with federal regulations, though they were working with TSA to weld additional infrastructure to prevent further entries.

The airport also has a surveillance system that allows the security team to detect intruders.

The staff, airport officials added, are responsible for 10,000 acres, 70 kilometers of runways and taxiways, 160 kilometers of roads and about 50 kilometers of barbed wire along the perimeter.
