The former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has doubled down on claims that he is the victim of what he calls a “witch hunt”.
During a rally in Georgia, he stated that the accusations are baseless and ridiculous, while again rejecting the claims.
“They have launched one witch hunt after another to try to stop our movement, to thwart the will of the American people. The ridiculous and baseless accusation against me by the armed Justice Department of the Biden administration will go down as one of the most horrific abuses of power in our country’s history,” Trump said.
Among other things, the former American leader added that they are beating the Republicans by winning everywhere, as he addressed the supporters who were present.
“We are really winning a lot. We’re winning everywhere, we’re beating the Republicans, and we’re beating the hell out of Joe Biden. That’s why they are doing it. If I wasn’t, let me tell you, if I wasn’t, there would be no witch hunt. There would be no indictment. If I were to lose, I would win a lot against the Democrats,” he further added.
It was his first public appearance since he was indicted on 37 felony charges related to the hoarding of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida.
He is accused of willfully defying Justice Department requests for the return of classified documents, seeking help in his efforts to hide records and even telling his lawyers that he wanted to fight a subpoena for materials stored in residence.
