Joaquín Sperani was 14 years old and had been missing since Thursday, when he was last seen on his way to school.

Joaquín Sperani, a 14-year-old teenager who had been missing since Thursday in the Cordoba city of Laboulaye, was found lifeless this Sunday in an abandoned house in that town.

Joaquín’s body appeared in an uninhabited house located at 480 Sarmiento Street, about 100 meters from the school where the boy attended. The main hypothesis investigated by the local police is that it would be a homicide and the alleged perpetrator would be a minor.

The young man had been wanted since the afternoon of Thursday the 29th, when he did not go to the school where he attended secondary school, Ipem No. 278 “Malvinas Argentinas”. The last time he was seen alive, around 3:00 p.m. that Thursday, he was wearing the uniform of the educational institution.

Joaquín was supposed to attend school on Thursday, but the preceptor of his course confirmed that the young man was not in the classroom at the time of taking attendance. A piece of information that added confusion at that time is that his bicycle was found in the schoolyard.

In addition, his classmates could not give certainty as to whether or not they had seen their missing classmate that day.

As the hours passed, and since Joaquín did not appear or communicate, Mariela Flores -the adolescent’s mother- filed a complaint for his disappearance when it was already Thursday night and her son had not returned to the family home.

The search for the teenager mobilized the city, and immediately his family and friends began a campaign on social networks to request that anyone with information about his whereabouts communicate to provide it.

On Saturday a march was called that was well attended. People walked through the different streets of the town and converged on the Headquarters of the Departmental Regional Unit.

There, Joaquín’s father expressed his gratitude for the support of so many people. “I am grateful for this immense meeting that was held. Without you I don’t know what we would do, you are the pillar that we have,” the man expressed with emotion, according to the local media outlet Nexos del Sur.

The director of the local Police, Enrique Carreras, went out to talk with the residents who had marched, in the midst of a tense and anxious atmosphere. After explaining that the teenager was wanted by all means, he pointed out that there were “many versions that are going around the street, that are wrong and false”, without clarifying what he was referring to.

Finally, this Sunday Joaquín was found lifeless in an abandoned house. Firefighters, an emergency service, police officers and the prosecutor’s office on duty came to the scene to remove the body and start the first investigations into the case.
