Two women lost their lives violently in the early hours of this Sunday, September 24, in the municipality of El Negrito, Yoro, northern Honduras.

The murdered women were identified with the names of Mariana de Jesús Barahona Euceda (38) and Alexandra María García Barahona (16), mother and daughter, respectively.

According to information from the National Police, a man identified as Melvin Mauricio Zaldívar Hernández (43)partner of Mariana Barahona, would have committed the crime out of alleged jealousy and then took his own life.

The horrendous murder occurred in the El Centro neighborhood, of the municipality in question, at around 3:30 am this Sunday morning. A child (Alexandra’s brother) was the one who alerted the authorities at the time when a police patrol was passing through the area.

Subsequently, agents entered the house where the violent incident occurred and found that inside a room were the three bodies lying and bloody on a bed.

The bodies were lifted from the scene by a Forensic Medicine team and then transported to the morgue of the Public Ministry in San Pedro Sula.
