The child is in a “reserved state” with injuries to the jaw and chest. The causes of the attack are being investigated.
A 9-year-old boy was injured after being shot during an assault on his father, who would have tried to steal his car at the door of his house in the Buenos Aires town of Virrey del Pino, La Matanza district.
The event occurred Thursday night at the intersection of Carlos Gardel and Juan Manuel de Rosas streets, where a man was arriving by car with his son and was approached by a criminal who got out of another vehicle.
Faced with the father’s resistance, the attacker fired several shots from a firearm, one of which hit the boy’s left shoulder, who also suffered a bullet wound to the jaw, for which he was taken to the Hospital Simply Evita by González Catán.
The victim was referred to the San Justo Children’s Hospital, where she was admitted and continued her recovery.
This Saturday, Diego, a security guard in the area who testified as a witness, told the TN news channel that “a man got out of a car and three detonations of a firearm were heard.”
According to the custodian, “everything was silent and the car is going to the collector” but he did not hear cries for help.
“When they took me to make a statement, the person who helped the baby was there and said that a man showed up with the baby asking for help and he took him to the first hospital in the area,” he explained.
However, according to police sources cited by El1 Digital, the attack would not be linked to an attempted robbery and the causes of the episode are being investigated.
The same outlet also reports that after the attack, the minor was urgently transferred by his father to the Hospital del Niño, in San Justo, where they verified that he had gunshot wounds to the jaw and chest and is in a “reserved state.”
The fact is being investigated by personnel from the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 5 of the La Matanza Judicial Department, which is looking for evidence, including security images and testimonies, to identify the aggressor.
