Four people have died after an avalanche caught them while climbing the 3,600m mountain in the French Alps.

Another person was injured, while it is not yet known how many people were in their group, for this reason the search continues.

According to the authorities, the avalanche was 500 meters wide and descended the mountain slope over 1600 meters.

The victims were walking in a group and were going to ski down the mountain they were climbing.

No avalanche warning had been issued by Météo-France, also indicating, but preliminary suspicions, that heat and wind may have caused the massif of snow to fall.

In addition to searches in the area, help has also come from the air, where helicopters are monitoring the situation.

Authorities have warned tourists visiting the area to be careful to avoid incidents.

This is not the first time that such an event has happened, as there have been avalanches in those Alps, where there have been victims.
