President-elect Trump introduced on Thursday his intent to appoint former Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., to function secretary of Veterans Affairs.
“Doug is a Veteran himself, who at the moment serves our Nation as a Chaplain in the USA Air Drive Reserve Command, and fought for our Nation within the Iraq Warfare,” Trump wrote on Fact Social. “We should handle our courageous women and men in uniform, and Doug might be an incredible advocate for our Energetic Obligation Servicemembers, Veterans, and Army Households to make sure they’ve the help they want. Thanks, Doug, in your willingness to serve our nation on this crucial position.”

Shortly after Trump made the announcement, Collins posted to X that he was “honored” to just accept the nomination.
“Our heroes deserve the very best care and help,” Collins wrote. “We’ll struggle tirelessly to streamline and minimize laws within the VA, root out corruption, and guarantee each veteran receives the advantages they’ve earned.

“Collectively, we’ll make the VA work for individuals who fought for us,” he added. “Time to ship for our veterans and provides them the world-class care they deserve.”
