The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released the list with the names that tropical storms and hurricanes will bear in the 2023 season.
The list describes what the cyclones that will form over the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean will be called.
For example, in the Pacific, where the hurricane season began on May 15, “Adrián” will form first; “Beatriz” and “Calvin” will continue.
Meanwhile, in the Atlantic and Caribbean, where the season is expected to start on June 1, the first name listed is “Arlene”, followed by “Bret” and “Cindy”.
Insivumeh Forecast
The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) maintains monitoring of the hurricane season and forecasts a “quiet season” in the Atlantic and Caribbean, where the formation of 10 to 12 storms is expected.
On the contrary, in the Pacific part an active season is expected.

“It is important to take into account that Guatemala does not necessarily have to be affected by a tropical storm, because with a low pressure or a depression it can flood a large part of the country for up to a month,” warned César George, chief of meteorology.
According to the National Hurricane Center of the United States, the season in the Pacific will run from May 15 to November 30, 2023, in which at least 23 hurricanes are expected.
While for the Atlantic and Caribbean, 21 hurricanes are expected during the season that begins on June 1 and ends the same at the end of November.
Due to its trajectory, the Insivumeh forecasts that Atlantic hurricanes will reduce their strength and between 10 and 12 storms will appear.
