SYDNEY – In mid-2022, Ms. Bailey Riley, a 23-year-old university student, signed an eight-month lease on a small house in Sydney’s inner city and moved in with two roommates.
But, in what has become an increasingly familiar experience for renters across the city, she and her roommates received an email from the real estate agent in January, letting them know their rent was going up.
