A suspect was apprehended after an “active shooter” situation, the sheriff said.
A suspect was apprehended after at least two people were killed during an “active gunman” situation at a campground near the Gorge Amphitheater on Saturday in Washington, the sheriff said.
“Officers bagged, boxed in and took the suspect into custody. Multiple individuals sustained gunshot wounds,” the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. after at approximately 10:50 p.m. local time.
At least five people were injured in the shooting, authorities said in that update.
The sheriff had previously posted that there was an “active shooter at Gorge Amphitheater,” adding, “When you’re at the Gorge, take cover. Run, hide, or fight the suspect.”
The open-air venue, which can hold up to 27,500 people, was scheduled for Saturday for Beyond Wonderland, an electronic dance festival.
“Please avoid the Gorge Gate H camping area as it is closed due to an incident handled by local authorities,” said Beyond Wonderland on Twitter. “There is currently no danger to festival goers or the campsites.”
