Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is investigating the death of a homeless man who was held in a headlock by a subway passenger on Monday.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office confirmed to Fox News Digital that they are investigating the deadly incident, which occurred Monday afternoon on an F train.

Homeless Jordan Neely, 30, reportedly went on a rampage on a train around 2:30pm. Police told the New York Post that Neely threw trash at passengers and threatened them.

During the dispute, a 24-year-old Marine held Neely in a stranglehold for about 15 minutes. Two other passengers restrained Neely by holding his arms down and squeezing his shoulders.

Neely lost consciousness during the incident. EMTs arrived on the scene to resuscitate him, but he was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.

Passenger Juan Alberto Vazquez told the New York Post that although Neely yelled aggressively, he did not physically attack anyone. Neely reportedly complained of thirst and hunger.

“None of us who were there thought he was in danger of dying,” Vasquez explained. “We thought he was passing out or out of breath.”

The Marine was taken into custody by New York City police officers and released without charge.

The cause of death is still under investigation by the city’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner. A spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams declined to comment directly on Neely’s death.
