It was in Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones. Lindomar de Oliveira Cunha (40) was dedicated to the sale of wines and the informal exchange of foreign currency.

Another case of hitmen shook the missionary town of Bernardo de Irigoyen, on the border with Brazil. Two men on a motorcycle executed Lindomar de Oliveira Cunha (40) with four bullets, a man who was dedicated to the informal exchange of foreign currency and the sale of Argentine wines destined for the market of the neighboring country.

The crime was recorded this Wednesday at 5:50 p.m. Lindomar was inside his Toyota Corolla, in front of a bar, when the assassins arrived aboard a black Honda Titan, positioned themselves next to the window and after a few words, shot the victim in the head and chest.

De Oliveira Cunha lived in the town of Dos Hermanas but his commercial activity was centered in Bernardo de Irigoyen, where he was engaged in currency exchange, and in parallel he had set up a business for the sale of expensive Argentine wines destined for each increasingly demanding Brazilian market.

Investigators believe that the crime is linked to these millionaire border businesses. After requisitioning the victim’s car, the Police found 131,000 reais and 41,700 dollars in a torpedo compartment. At the current exchange rate, there are more than 30 million pesos that De Oliveira Cunha had on him.

The victim had parked in front of the “Chingo” bar, 50 meters from the international border -in that area there is a dry border with Brazil-, and a few minutes later the hitmen arrived. They fired four shots: all hit the merchant, who died before receiving medical attention.

Grouped shots to the head and neck mark the professionalism of the shooter. A characteristic that was repeated in at least five similar crimes that occurred in Irigoyen in the last two years.

The investigators did not take long to discover that a month ago De Oliveira Cunha had been denounced for an act of injury in Dos Hermanas. At the beginning of last April, a 57-year-old man said that the merchant shot him in the shoulder after an argument. Investigators said that at the moment there is no link between the facts.

This Wednesday is not the first case of assassination in Bernardo de Irigoyen. At the end of last December, also in the Provincias Unidas neighborhood, the teacher Carla Betina De Olivera (37) was assassinated with five bullets, who was in a Renault Sandero Stepway with her husband, Ismael Sergio Batista Camargo (42), also linked to foreign currency exchange.

Investigators were never able to establish for sure if the bullets were for the woman or for Batista Camargo, who suffered only minor injuries in the attack. As happened this Wednesday, there were two murderers, they were on a motorcycle and fled to Brazil.

A few months earlier, in September, a hitman killed Sebastián Fernández Da Rosa, alias “Chany”, 42, who was engaged in business and was a member of the board of directors of the Bernardo de Irigoyen Volunteer Firefighters with eight bullets.

Fernández Da Rosa was attacked a few minutes after he opened his merchandise warehouse, on Tránsito Pesado avenue and Saltos del Moconá street, a few meters from the international crossing.

The commissioned crimes began in 2021. First he was a lawyer trying to break into the sale of wine; and then another shopkeeper who was shot when he stopped at a traffic light.

Other murders linked to smuggling must also be added: those of Ariel Camargo de Lara (19) and Diego Rafael Pimentel (31); and the mysterious disappearance of Maximiliano Pimentel (24), in April of last year.
