President Biden this week set himself a light schedule with no public events Tuesday through Thursday, letting Vice President Kamala Harris take the lead at a meeting with companies on artificial intelligence.
Biden’s only activity listed today was a private briefing with Harris, who will then meet with tech executives on AI and then head to Richmond, Virginia, for a small business event. The president is not listed as a participant for either event.

Also today, first lady Jill Biden flies to the United Kingdom for the coronation of King Charles III – an invitation the president declined to attend.
Biden spoke at an event on Small Business Week on Monday and then met with the President of the Philippines. He spent Saturday at festivities for the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
The eased workload for the 80-year-old Biden comes a week after he announced his bid for re-election.

There were no White House immigration events scheduled this week as Title 42 expires next week. The Biden administration will reportedly send 1,500 US troops to the border with Mexico in response.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to a question Wednesday about Biden’s eased schedule.
“He’s had meetings with… internal meetings in the Oval Office,” Jean-Pierre said. “I met with him earlier today with…senior advisers, senior staff, talking about the issues that matter to the American people.”

Harris will be joined by senior White House officials Thursday at her meeting with tech executives at Microsoft, Google and OpenAI. The officials, CNBC reported, include Biden’s chief of staff Jeff Zients, national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and director of science and technology policy Arati Prabhakar.
