More than a decade ago, Mr. Hadi Masykur served as personal secretary to Para Wijayanto, one of Southeast Asia’s most wanted terrorists, and was privy to key information about the militant Islamic organization Jemaah Islamiah (JI).

Today he preaches about the dangers of extremism that ripped him from his family and sent him to prison.

Mr. Hadi joined JI when it was first founded in 1993 because he wanted to help oppressed Muslims. He was then 15.
