Southwest Indiana police shot and wounded a man who pulled a gun on officers on a residential street, police said Wednesday.

The man underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon after the Evansville shooting, but no additional information was available, said Sgt. Anna Gray, a spokeswoman for the Evansville Police Department, said.

Gray said two Evansville officers riding in separate vehicles recognized the man, who was wanted for failing to appear in court for criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and drug-related offenses, the Evansville Courier & Press reported.
