The cow that wandered the streets of Chicago after a high school prank gone bad has been given a new name.

The Hooved Animal Humane Society (HAHS) in Woodstock, Ill., took the bull into custody following police capture of the animal, according to a press release from the Niles Police Department.

“HAHS is pleased to share that we provided a safe landing spot for the cow that was roaming freely in the Niles area,” the humane society shared on its public Facebook.

“She is settling in nicely and enjoying a lush green pasture. We are thankful that the generosity of our supporters made this moment a reality for her.”

The animal care team asked its followers for help naming the cow and to post any name suggestions in the comments section.

After receiving hundreds of entries, the winning name was drawn on May 8: Blossom.

“Which we find so fitting, because every day she really blooms before our very eyes,” HAHS shared online.

No criminal charges will be brought, but the school board is currently undergoing an internal investigation into those involved.

“A prank went awry this morning when a group of our seniors lost control of a cow they were planning to place in a corral they built for the school. Unfortunately, the animal escaped, leaving the cow to roam the community,” shared the school after the incident.

“The senior class is in the process of contacting police, city officials and local residents to apologize for this incident,” the school officials added.
