A man was shot dead Friday night at the corner of Hill and 1st Street in downtown Los Angeles and police were looking for the suspect.
Police were called to the scene just before midnight, near the Civic Center/Grand Park subway station. They were told the victim, a 36-year-old black man, had been arguing with a 23-year-old white man when the 23-year-old pulled out a gun and shot the victim, Officer Jader Chaves said. .
The victim was taken to hospital and pronounced dead. The suspect fled on foot, Chaves said, and was still at large Saturday morning.
Few additional details about the shooting were available, but police did say the victim was not an unhoused person.
