President Biden canceled his speech honoring fallen police officers for National Police Week, instead he would have traveled to his granddaughter’s graduation.
Biden was scheduled to deliver a keynote address on Monday at the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) National Peace Officers Memorial Service, as the week in honor of our country’s law enforcement officers kicked off.
However, the president seemingly pulled out of the event at the last minute — his name was already on the event schedule — and Attorney General Merrick Garland was sent instead of Biden.

With that, the Democratic president turned against the 2020 rallying cry of some members of his own party. He then continued in the 2-minute, 52-second message to tout what he considered his government’s successes in gun control.
“Let’s be very clear. The answer is not to fail the police,” Biden said. “It’s to provide you with the resources and training to be the partners and protectors of the communities in need.”

“I signed the most sweeping gun safety bill in nearly 30 years to ensure that officers on the street are not outmaneuvered,” Biden said. “We are also strengthening background checks for gun purchases, cracking down on illegal gun sales and governing so-called ghost guns that officers have told me are increasingly being found at crime scenes.
Biden added that he is now seeking “another $37 billion to hire 100,000 additional police officers trained in community policing to provide law enforcement with mental health and wellness resources, and to ensure they hire more school counselors, psychologists and have social workers responding alongside a crisis.” them as they appear.” He also supported investment “in programs proven to address the root causes of crime”.
