At least three people were killed and several others were injured Monday after a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico law enforcement officials said.
According to them, this caused the closure of all schools in the town of Farmington.
“There are many civilian casualties,” said a Farmington police statement posted on Facebook. Officials said one suspect was killed by police at the scene.
A Farmington police officer and a New Mexico state trooper were shot, police said in a statement. They are in stable condition and receiving treatment at San Juan Regional Medical Center.
“The identity of the suspect is still unknown and there are no other known threats at this time,” police said.
Farmington is a city with about 50,000 inhabitants located in northwestern New Mexico.
