The new WhatsApp update will allow users to edit messages sent in their chat, according to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, owner of the messaging application.
In his message posted on May 22, Zuckerberg wrote: You can now edit your WhatsApp messages up to 15 minutes after they’re sent!
The text was accompanied by an image that showed a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat with an example of what the edition would be like.
As reported, once the 15 minutes have passed, the message cannot be modified, but it will allow you to delete it and if you consider sending a new one.
how to edit
As reported to use the new message editing function, you must hold down the message you want to modify and at that time two different methods will be given, for iPhone and Android.
In the case of the first devices, pressing the message will display a menu among which is the edit function.
On Android devices they will highlight the message and next to the information button and Copy, at the top of the screen, the edit function will be displayed.
According to the information, once the message has been edited and sent again, an “edited” label will appear in the lower right part of the text bubble.
It is mentioned that the person to whom the message was sent will be able to identify what the change is within the message, but no contact will be able to access the change history.
The information establishes that these messages are also within the scope of end-to-end encryption, so neither WhatsApp nor any user will be able to know the content of a chat, regardless of whether it is personal or group.
The update started rolling out to users around the world, though it might take a few days to get it, depending on the region of the user.
To obtain this new function, the user must verify if the App is updated to the latest version.
