Antigua GFC and Xelajú MC will play the final of the Clausura 2023 tournament after having left Comunicaciones and Guastatoya in the semifinal road, respectively.

The board of directors has prepared the security plan so that the meeting can take place without any setbacks, according to the manager of the colonial team, Francisco Sánchez.

According to Sánchez, everything is ready in security matters to protect the people who arrive at the Pensativo de Antigua Guatemala stadium, located on Calle Ancha de los Herreros.

Until this May 23, after noon, there were only tickets left for preference. The ones in the stands had been sold out in pre-sale. There are 10 thousand tickets available to the fans of Antigua only. They will not allow rival fans to enter.

The cost of the grandstand is Q200 and the preference is Q100. According to Sánchez, if the tickets that remain to be sold are not sold out before the day of the game, the box office will open at 2:00 p.m. and at 3:00 p.m. the three entrance gates to the sports venue.

The three entrances to the Pensativo are through Calle Ancha and Callejones Castillo and Bolaños, where there will be the presence of private security guards and the elements of the National Civil Police (PNC) that the government authorities of the department highlight.

The security cordon is made up of at least 60 private police officers, some 100 PNC agents and 30 municipal police officers. There will be no access to parking, so the people who arrive must walk to the stadium.

“We ask people who attend to do so with complete peace of mind and enjoy a show in peace,” said Sánchez.

In the case of the security plan for the second leg final that will be played on Saturday, May 27 at 8:00 p.m. at the Mario Camposeco stadium, the club’s spokesman, Giovanni Calderón, reported that they will announce it on Thursday, May 25 together with with local authorities.

This is the first time that both teams have met in a final. The antecedents in the final phases date from the Apertura 2000 when in the quarterfinals Xelajú eliminated Antigua 5-1 overall; the next in the Clausura 2001, semifinals, and this time it was favorable for the colonials 2-1.

In the 2015 Clausura, in the quarterfinals, again Antigua was left with the global victory, 3-1. In the Clausura 2018, in the quarterfinals, Xelajú eliminated the green belly 3-0.
