Today, Kosovo has removed the state of health emergency, after the World Health Organization has declared that Covid 19 no longer represents a global health emergency.
At the media conference after the government meeting where the decision was made, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, said that they no longer see any reason for anti-Covid measures.
“Today, at the government meeting, we approved the decision announcing the end of the health emergency. The MoH proposed this decision after the recommendation of the IKhPK and the WHO statement, dated May 5 of this year, that ‘Covid 19 no longer represents a global health emergency’. These 1,164 days of the health emergency were overcome with many sacrifices and, above all, selflessness by many,” said Vitia.
Minister Vitia emphasized that this disease has not disappeared, for which he said that the health institutions in the country are already applying the surveillance measures because it is necessary.
The head of health expressed gratitude to the citizens for their cooperation with the institutions, saying that thanks to this Kosovo has managed to avoid many other fatal losses. Until, in particular, he mentioned white coats, journalists and other employees of the country’s institutions.
“Considering the fragility of our health system, at that time also the lack of basic tools such as alcohol, gloves and masks, this was very worrying for us. We have been in constant contact with the world mechanisms, such as with the WHO, and we have adapted to the situation in Kosovo… Honestly, the cooperation of the citizens and their awareness, I have not seen anything like this in my life. we have never seen such a challenge as the Covid 19 pandemic, and thanks to them it has been respected in such a way that I think many infections have been prevented which were potentially fatal,” said Vitia.
While in the last 24 hours, one person died due to Covid 19.
