The national prosecutors of the political parties gave the last inspection to the electoral ballots, which are about to begin the printing process, despite some disagreements that it is impossible to solve due to time.
This last inspection was carried out at the Electoral Process Operations Center (Cope), installed in the Parque de la Industria. There each party evaluated the five ballots for their final approval.
The TSE had summoned the prosecutors to review only the design of the presidential ballot; that appears with the photograph of the pairing, logo and name of the candidates, this will be the white ballot, however, the Electoral Directorate already had the art of the rest of the ballots, which were presented to the prosecutors to validate them before it begins the printing process.
Juan Gerardo Guerrero, Semilla’s prosecutor, considers that all the ballots are in good condition and “you can see the logos of all the political parties well.”
When talking about the ballot for deputies for the National List, Diego Ronquillo, prosecutor of the Compromiso, Renovación y Orden (Creo) party, considers that the logo of the parties is small, as are the names of the candidates.
“The names are small, there are all the names, the symbols, but in perception they are very small, but they do appear on all the ballots,” said the prosecutor.
But the size of the logos is more affected when talking about coalitions, according to Elmer Palencia, prosecutor of Valor, who was able to evaluate ballots in which they maintain an alliance with the Unionist Party.
“If we were affected by the size of the symbol. We have to work so that all the parties have the same space for symbols and names, but those of us who go in coalition remain smaller, ”he admitted.
Héctor Aldana, prosecutor of Vamos, explains that he respects the security protocols of the meeting this Monday, since prosecutors or the media were not allowed to document the arts, but he considers that it would be prudent for voters to know in advance What will the ballot you will receive on June 25 be like?
For her part, Lorena Flores, Cambio prosecutor, had a similar reading: “I would suggest that the ballots be observed by citizens so that their eye that is not used to logos can make a difference, to identify each party, to avoid confusion at the time of voting.
In response to the concerns, Gloria López, electoral director, explained that in no electoral process has the final art of the ballot been exposed for security reasons. In addition, she explained that the size of the letter of the ballot for the National List cannot be changed, since it was agreed between the TSE and the groups to include the list of candidates.
Regarding the symbols of the parties, the Electoral Directorate gave the prosecutors the measurement tools so that all those who had doubts could evaluate the dimensions in detail.
“In the eyes of the human eye it seems that some are smaller, but it is because of the way, the coalitions are going to be observed a little less because the two have to occupy the size of a single political party,” López explained.
For printing the tickets
From this moment on, the three printers that are in charge of printing the ballots can begin work, according to López.
The official of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) explained that they have not received any request for extension from the printers, so the deadline for receipt is June 13, 12 days before the elections.
“So far there is no request for an extension – from the printers – what we proposed was a necessary date to carry out the packaging, but we will see during the printing of ballots how it develops and if it is necessary to do a small adjust to the schedule, we will do it,” he said.
López concluded by explaining that on June 25 each Vote Receiving Board will have its electoral boxes with the different ballots and other documents necessary for the vote.
TSE supports the Citizen Registry
Last week, the Constitutional Court (CC) declared inadmissible an appeal presented by Carlos Pineda, a suspended candidate for the presidency for the political party Prosperidad Ciudadana.

The registered pairings
Twenty-two pairs of 24 political parties will appear on the presidential candidate ballot because there are two coalitions, while two groups did not present a presidential offer: the National Advanced Party (PAN) and the Guatemalan Popular Party.
Two other groups were not allowed to register their pairings, being Podemos, which promoted Roberto Arzú and David Pineda, and the Movement for the Liberation of the Peoples (MLP), which promoted Thelma Cabrera and Jordán Rodas.
Finally, judicial resolutions canceled assemblies of the Citizen Prosperity political parties of Carlos Pineda and Efraín Orozco, and of the Power party that had Óscar Rodolfo Castañeda and Luis Ruiz as partners.
