Shock has caused the case of an 11-year-old boy who decided to take his own life in Coahuila, Mexico, because his parents forbade him to listen to the music of the singer of corridos lying down, Peso Pluma.
The event occurred on May 30 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and according to Mexican media, apparently the boy, identified as Jerick “N”, had been punished by his stepfather for playing the Mexican singer’s music at a high volume on his house.
The minor was found lifeless in the backyard of his house by his stepfather, who was going to say goodbye to him before going to work, but found him hanging from a tree.
The authorities and family members also found a letter written by the minor in which he explained the reasons why he made the decision to take his own life.
“I am Featherweight”, the boy had written, and said that he was tired of the excessive control and vigilance that his parents exercised against him in forbidding him not only to listen to his favorite artist, but also to dress the same way he does. Featherweight.
The State Prosecutor’s Office added that, in the letter, the minor did not want to hold anyone responsible for his decision, but that he was upset because his parents “did not accept him as he was.”
We are doing something wrong in this country. In #Coahuila, a boy took his own life because he was not allowed to listen to corridos or dress as Featherweight; he was barely 11 years old.

Featherweight has not currently ruled on the case, but users recovered an interview that the singer did a year ago where he assured that “it was not correct for children to listen to his music.”
In said interview, Featherweight assured that, although he listened to corridos music in his childhood, it was not correct for children to be exposed to that music and the topics they deal with,
“Sometimes it is not good for children to see this or hear this, but that is a reality; It has to be shown, it has to be seen,” said Featherweight.
