The opposition parties in Kosovo have continued to accuse the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, of the situation in the north of the country.
According to PDK and AAK, Kurti with reckless and experimental actions created chaos in the four northern municipalities and reduced the country’s sovereignty only in the courtyards of four municipal buildings. However, in order to de-escalate the situation in the north, they asked the institutions of the country to coordinate with the international community, even for the organization of new elections, but always that they be in accordance with the constitutionality and laws of the country.
This was promised by the ruling party, who emphasized that the new elections in the north are held only in accordance with the legislation in force and not on blackmail and threats.
Also, after the meeting of the Presidency of the Assembly on Monday, the political representatives of the LVV, PDK and AAK called absurd the conditions of the Serbian List for participation in the elections, who demanded the complete removal of the Special Police Units. Kosovo from the north and the formation of the Association.
The head of the PDK Parliamentary Group, Abelard Tahiri, said that whatever solution is made in the north should be within the framework of the Constitution and the law of Kosovo.
However, he did not indicate whether the two mayors of the northern municipalities from the ranks of the PDK will resign for the organization of new elections there.
“Any action that our institutions will undertake is very important to be in accordance with our constitutional order. If we create dangerous precedents that exceed constitutionality, then we are basically violating the citizenship of our country,” he said, KosovaPress reports.
The head of the Parliamentary Group of AAK, Besnik Tahiri, was also critical, who said that Kurti’s experiment in the north damaged Kosovo both internally and externally. He said that for this reason, consultations will continue with the other two opposition parties for the drafting of the motion of no confidence in the Government of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the deputy speaker of the Assembly from the ranks of the PDK, Enver Hoxhaj said that due to the wrong actions of Prime Minister Kurti, the north of Kosovo is moving towards the establishment of an international protectorate.
However, the head of the Vetëvendosje Parliamentary Group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, said that the elections in the north can only be held within the framework of law and constitutionality, not blackmail and threats.
She said that Lista Serbe is not in a position to address conditions, since the same instruction from Belgrade has resigned from Kosovo’s institutions and also did not participate in the April elections.
In order to resolve the situation in the north, the EU representative for dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, and the US emissary for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, are expected to stay in Kosovo this evening.
