Ukraine is said to be attacking Bakhmut according to Kiev’s claims, although Russia has said it had taken the entire city under control.
According to a spokesman for Ukraine’s eastern military command, the latter has been conducting attacks for several days, advancing 1.2 kilometers.
“We took advantage of the enemy’s rotation measures and the fact that the units that entered do not fully know the area and failed to conduct proper reconnaissance and coordination,” Serhiy Cherevati said.
Moscow used its Wagner mercenary group to seize almost the entire eastern city, but has since handed over the positions to a new group of forces to maintain control.
Ukraine has launched counterattacks from the position it had in the city.
