James Cameron, director of Avatar and Titanic, is in Argentina to participate in a forum on the environment and took advantage of the trip to see the natural landscapes of Jujuy this Thursday.

The filmmaker first visited the provincial capital and from there he moved to Purmamarca, one of the main tourist attractions in northern Argentina. Governor Gerardo Morales accompanied him on the tour.

Renowned environmental activist, Cameron got to know the Cauchari photovoltaic park (the largest in Latin America) and the solar thermal plants, two initiatives in Jujuy that are part of sustainable productive development in energy matters. He also showed interest in the enormous potential that the region has in terms of lithium production.

Cameron collaborates with the United Nations program against climate change, invests in sustainable companies and promotes the regeneration of the oceans. Within this framework, he created the Avatar Alliance Foundation in the United States.

“Caring for the environment must be a cause of humanity and the backbone of all government and human action. It is the axis that moves the world’s agenda,” said Governor Morales, presidential candidate for Together for Change, and in the same sense stressed that “investment in resources, technology and training to face the fight are essential.”

Cameron’s visit continues this Friday in the City of Buenos Aires, where in the afternoon he will participate as a keynote speaker at the Sustaining Forum, in La Rural de Palermo, with the aim of raising awareness in society about the impact of climate change and analyzing opportunities for transformation through sustainable economy.

Forum tickets are free and sold out almost immediately. The Hollywood star filmmaker will be interviewed by Iván de Pineda.
