TOKYO – Some flights were delayed at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Saturday after two planes appeared to have crashed into the ground near a taxiway, public broadcaster NHK reported, citing Japan’s transport ministry.
There were no injuries, NHK said, but the incident led to the closure of one of the airport’s four runways from about 11 a.m. local time (10 a.m. Singapore time).
The broadcaster showed images of aircraft from the Taiwanese Eva Airways and Thai Airways on the ground.
Part of the Thai Airways plane’s wing appeared to be broken and fragments could be seen near the runway.
