Montenegro is holding parliamentary elections today, while two coalitions of Albanian parties are also in the running: “Albanian Forum” with the mayor of the Municipality of Tuzi, Nik Gjeloshaj, and the Coalition of the Albanian Alliance with the experienced MP Genci Nimanbegu.
During a statement for the media, after the expression of will in the ballot box, Gjeloshaj and the Minister of Public Administration, Marash Dukaj, after thanking the media for the interest with which they are conducting the process, called on the citizens for massive participation in the elections, and avoiding incidents for a democratic process as befits a European country.
“First of all, I would like to personally thank you for your interest in the election processes in Montenegro. For us this is a very big support. We believe and hope first that this process will be smooth. We have tried to do our best to make this happen, and I have full confidence that our citizens have understood our contribution, and the contribution of national subjects to these important processes, every day.
This is the moment to invite all citizens, not only in Tuz but everywhere in Ulcinj, Plavë, Guci, Rozhajë, Krajë, Tivar and of course all Albanians wherever they are and live in Montenegro, to come out and vote. The vote is one of the greatest democratic weapons today. With the vote, citizens determine themselves who and how to represent them for an important period. That is why it is important to have the highest possible citizen participation in the elections, to support those who think they are the best” – said Dukaj.
Asked what it means for Albanians to be represented in the Montenegrin government, based on his one-year experience in the government, Marash Dukaj answers that there are many benefits. In just one year of leadership, he says, more than 20 million euros have been invested in Albanian municipalities in Montenegro.
“I have been the Minister of Public Administration for a year, and I think that we must prove our commitment with work. We have tried to act like this and I am very happy that for such a short period of time we have done so much for the Albanians. For one year it has been more than 20 years.
Even according to statistics, within one year investment contracts were signed in Albanian municipalities, not only in Tuz but in all Albanian municipalities, in the amount of more than 20 million euros. This shows our sincerity and commitment to advance the processes starting from the integration of Albanians, who not only in Montenegro but everywhere are showing that they know and want to be equal like everyone else. Of course, integration together with identity, being developed at the European level since we are a European country” – said Dukaj.
Even Nik Gjeloshaj, the first on the list of the “Albanian Forum”, has called for a massive participation in the elections and a peaceful process.
“I sincerely thank you as the media for being here to convey the campaign of the Albanians. Today is democracy day, so I think everything will be fine. I invite all the participants in the elections, party militants to set the example of a peaceful process.
I believe that today from Montenegro will come the message of a day where the citizens will give their opinion on who they want to lead in the next 4 years” – said Gjeloshaj.
