KUALA LUMPUR – A motorcyclist who drove against the flow of traffic leading to the death of another man told police after surrendering that he had lost his way.
Officer in charge of Ampang Jaya precinct, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, said: “He was on his way home to Kajang from Ampang on Wednesday, but he got lost.
“So he decided to drive the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang elevated highway against the flow of traffic.”
He then collided with another motorcyclist, who fell off his bicycle. The motorcyclist, who was in his 60s, crashed into the barrier and fell 100 feet to his death.
When ACP contacted Mohd Azam on Saturday, he said the 41-year-old motorcyclist had reported the incident to the police on Friday.
“He said he only knew about the matter after the news came out on TV and social media,” said ACP Mohd Azam.
He added that the man will not be arrested for the time being and notes that he also suffered injuries. His motorcycle has been seized.
“He suffered a broken shoulder, finger and other injuries to his shoulder and leg,” said ACP Mohd Azam.
“Due to his condition, no arrest has been made. He is seriously injured and has difficulty walking,” police said.
However, they will take further action once his condition stabilizes.
Six witnesses, including the suspect, had their statements recorded, ACP Mohd Azam said. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
