Here’s a rundown of all the news you need to start your Monday off, including a rare meeting between US and Chinese diplomats, findings on the tragedy on a migrant boat off Greece last week, and updates on a school shooting in the East African country of Uganda.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken invited his Chinese counterpart, Qin Gang, to Washington during the two diplomats’ meeting in Beijing amid strained relations. Talks between them will continue on Monday.

Blinken’s visit to China was the first meeting of any senior US official in five years. On Sunday, he sat down for nearly six hours of talks with the Gang.

Beijing said bilateral relations were at the “lowest” level since the two countries established diplomatic relations in the 1970s.

Around 7.5 million households in the UK are expected to have increased repayments by 2026, with annual mortgage repayments projected to increase by £15.8bn ($20.2bn) by 2026, a recent study by the Resolution Foundation has revealed.
