Eight years after he disappeared while walking his dogs in Houston, Texas, Rudy Farías, now 25, was found unconscious and beaten in front of a church, according to the Center for the Disappeared in that state.

His mother, Janie Farías, told the local ABC channel that Rudy was taken to a hospital over the weekend and that he had cuts and bruises all over his body, and blood in his hair.

He explained that an unidentified person called 911 after finding him unconscious outside a church.

“After 8 long years, Rudy has been located safely,” the Texas Center for the Missing said on Twitter Sunday. “Please continue to keep his family in your prayers as Rudy recovers in the hospital,” he added.

On March 6, 2015, Rudy, then 17, left his mother’s house in northwest Houston to walk two dogs, who later returned home alone. The family notified authorities and a search was launched in the area that continued through March 13.

In 2015, authorities reported that Farias had been diagnosed with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety. Family members then indicated that Rudy had suffered from depression, particularly after the death of an older brother in a motorcycle accident.

By then, the non-profit Texas EquuSearch requested the public’s help in finding the young man, stating it was possible he was disoriented without taking his medications.
