CNN’s Phil Mattingly couldn’t quite believe a response Monday from the Trump campaign to a question from the Washington Post about the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
A Trump spokesperson falsely claimed to the Post that “the 2020 presidential election was rigged and stolen” and suggested that the ex-POTUS deserved credit for “doing the right thing, making sure all fraud was investigated and addressed.”
“It’s like everyone’s numb right now?” Mattingly asked.
“Like, everything about that statement is a lie. An unequivocal, unequivocal lie,” he added, noting how the Trump campaign “just threw that in the middle of a campaign where he’s the frontrunner by 30 plus points.”
