Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is not currently in Belarus, where he was exiled after the brief uprising of the mercenary group last month, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Thursday, but Russia’s St. He said he was in St. Petersburg.
“As for Yevgeny Prigozhin, he is in (Russia’s) St. Petersburg. Where is he this morning? Maybe he went to Moscow, maybe somewhere else, but not on the territory of Belarus,” Lukashenko told reporters at a press conference. In the capital Minsk.
However, Prigozhin later returned “to avoid bloodshed” and has since moved to Belarus under an agreement brokered by Lukashenko.
